Appointments
The surgery operates a total telephone triage service for GP Appointments.
Pre-Bookable: Pre-bookable appointments can be made in advance for a telephone consultation with a GP. Face to face appointments can be pre-booked with our Advanced Nurse Practitioners
On the Day: Appointments are released at 8am for on the day GP / ANP appointments. Your name will be added to the clinicians daily triage list and they will telephone you between 8am - 6.30pm
**If you require a call back within a set time frame please make the staff member aware when booking your triage appointment**
If the clinician wishes to see you face to face they will arrange this with you during your call.
Please ensure you let us know your correct contact details when booking and also a brief description of the reason for your call. The clinician will call in order of clinical priority, trying to accommodate any time frame requests.
Nursing Team appointments are by appointment only.
Our Patient Advisors are trained in Care Navigation and they may signpost you to another healthcare professional if appropriate, such as the practice pharmacist, a community pharmacy providing the NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Scheme, First Contact Physiotherapist - you will be advised during your call.
Extended Access Appointments - Evenings and Weekends
From 1st October 2022, patients registered with this practice will now be able to book appointments between 6.30pm - 8pm, Monday - Friday, and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays. This is in addition to the core practice hours of 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday.
Anstey Surgery belongs to a group of practices known as a Primary Care Network, along with Barrow Health Centre, Alpine House Surgery, Quorn Medial Centre, The Banks Surgery, The Cottage Surgery, Charnwood Surgery & Highgate Medical Centre. Our family of practices will be working together to provide these appointments for you, so you may find your appointment takes place at one of the other practices. We will let you know if that is the case.
The clinician you see or talk to will be able to access relevant sections of your medical notes and will communicate what has happened during your appointment back to your usual GP practice.
These appointments will be provided by a range of health professionals in the practice team appropriate to the individual clinic and supported by a GP at all times.

Chaperones
The doctors, nurses and other staff who work within our practice recognise the sensitive nature of intimate examinations. Patients of either sex may feel more comfortable with another person present whilst they are being examined.
You may wish to bring a friend or relative with you for your consultation or alternatively the practice can provide a fully trained chaperone for you (this could be a trained receptionist or member of the nursing team). Please let the doctor or nurse know if you require a chaperone.
In the event of a chaperone not being immediately available due to pressure of time or staff shortages it may be necessary to rearrange your appointment.
Any concerns regarding the conduct of an examination should be brought to the attention of a member of staff as soon as possible.
SMS Text Message Reminders
We send appointment reminders via a text message for all appointments (excluding telephone consultations). Please ensure we have your up to date mobile number to take advantage of this service.
Cancellations
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
